Hello My Name Is…
. . . Tanja Ortmaier and I am the woman behind Atelier 44.
Atelier 44 got its name because of the simple fact that I live and work in house number 44. “Atelier” should underline the artistic aspect of my work.
I was born on the 2nd of June in 1981 and grew up being surrounded of the crazy and colorful world of the 80s in (West) Berlin.
Never not creating
I drew a lot as a kid and really thrived while being creative. That’s still the case today: I’m never not creating. My mind is always active channeling creative ways of seing things and when I’m not working on something creative, I’m watching nature and my surroundings to always find beautiful details that inspire me.
I’m amazed by the fact that you can make almost everything out of a blank paper. There is a rough idea, a spark and you sit down and start drawing, sketching and brainstorming.
I especially love the process in this early stage of a design, because there are no limits for the creativity at this point.
Work Ethics
I listen closely to my clients, because it is important to me to understand the person behind the brand and how I can represent you or your business in the best possible way.
Sometimes the world out there is like a snake pit – with my positive and loving nature I have turned my back on a cold elbow society and rely on my moral pillars: Commitment, dedication, reliability and a positive attitude. These statutes are reflected in my way of working.
Career
I went through a classic apprenticeship and started a photographic career about 20 years ago, my art has been published in several magazines and books all over the world.
I am well known for my longtime work with Hot Rod magazine, “Smokin Shutdown“, and for my cheeky PinUp photography. International models of the vintage scene and musicians fill the pages of this portfolio, if you want to find out more about this, please visit Cherrymuffin Studios.
Vintage styles were the focus of my work.
I learned so much about photoshop during these years, I attended several workshops and taught myself. lot. Graphic Design always was a passion of mine and I was eager to learn more about this fine craft.
I decided to start a graphic design apprenticeship to dig really deep into it.
Leaving photography behind as a main job, I’m a full time artist in graphic design and illustration at this point.
